ENDOSCOPY - A TOOL FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
Endoscopy is a medical procedure that uses a flexible, lighted tube (endoscope) to visualize the inside of the body, primarily for diagnosing and treating gastrointestinal (GI) conditions.
It allows doctors to directly examine the lining of the digestive tract, perform biopsies. and even treat certain conditions during the procedure.
Endoscopy for Diagnosis
An endoscopy can be used to investigate unusual symptoms. Diagnose conditions that can cause acidity, bleeding, diarrhea, inflammation, , difficulty in swallowing which can be symptom of some serious diseases.
Endoscopy for Surgery
Endoscopy is performed to help to perform certain types of surgery For example, doctors can stop internal bleeding, seal wounds, open blockages, remove tissue, remove swallowed objects, clip polyps, or widen a narrowed esophagus.
Endoscopy To Remove Small Sample
Endoscopy is done to remove a small sample for further analysis like biopsy.

Small intestine can also be studied by a technique of wireless capsule endoscopy.
This is also known as video capsule endoscopy, This is a non-invasive procedure that

The capsule is swallowed by the patient., As it travels through the digestive tract,
it transmits images wirelessly to an external recorder.
These images are then reviewed by a doctor to detect abnormalities like tumors, bleeding, or other issues.
Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) is a medical procedure that combines endoscopy and ultrasound to
examine the digestive tract and nearby organs.
This is an advanced technique where ultrasound probe is attached to endoscope
and sonography of abdominal organs is performed.
It is a method of obtaining high quality pictures or images of the digestive tract.
This procedure allows visualization and access to various abdominal organs for biopsy and
various endoscopic procedures that replace need for surgery.
